Morningstar is a  43 foot cutter built by Sceptre Marine in Vancouver, Canada. She is equipped with a special rig and a number of interior innovations. The rig is tall with a larger mainsail than her sister ships but perfectly balanced with dual furling headsails and a boom furling mainsail. Her standing rigging is stainless steel rod rigging. The mast is tapered and all the running rigging is new. Morningstar is a fast and stable. Her construction and equipment make her an ideal long distance cruiser. In fact, two Sceptre 43's successfully circumnavigated the globe.

Morningstar is set up to be easily handled by a small crew or even singled handed. Matched grain excellent interior joinery enhances an excellent accommodation plan. A  galley located aft to port is very complete and supported by excellent electrical systems.

If your plans include blue water cruising, or simply coastal cruising and quality build, comfort, speed and safety are high on your list of sailing attributes then you need to inspect Morning Star as she was built for a very demanding experienced sailor, racer and cruiser.

Sails, Rigging & Canvas

Moringingstar has many customized features to her rig that were specified by her owner.  A new mast was fitted to the boat that was 4' longer and the boom lenght was increased by 1'.  All of the standing rigging is stainless steel rod rigging and the mast is tapered.  The purpose was to avoid large overlapping headsails and allow for performance sailing in any weather.   The staysail is made with heavier than normal material with a sewn in heavy bolt rope in the luff to maintain sail shape when partially furled, it also functions as an effective storm sail.  Both headsails are on roller furlers.  With this rig configuration the boat is well balanced  with no adverse helm effects.   A carbon fiber spinnaker pole is mounted on the mast and is easily deployed.  The assymetrical spinnaker can be launched and retrieved from the cockpit by one person after it has been setup.  It is launched on a carbon fiber sprite and utilizes a ROLL-GEN system rigging.  Morning Star is a joy to sail and is easily single-handed.
